Local Loves - Blue Bonnet Bakery

It's been a while since I've posted a local love piece.  It's not for a lack of loves - it's bad planning on my part.  I've had Blue Bonnet Bakery on my list for a while. Along with about seven other area haunts.  Maybe I can keep up with these posts; I do love mom-n-pops with a bohemian feel.

My favorite part of Blue Bonnet is their new location - they re-purposed an old church in my area.  They left the stained glass, kept the big doors and even scattered a few pews in the dining area.  It's a great use of an old space and beats the hell out of knocking down just to rebuild.

Blue Bonnet is a bakery first, with cakes, pies, cookies, and pastries.  I've had their coconut cream cake, petite-fors, sugar cookies, cinnamon rolls...you name it bakerishly and Blue Bonnet probably makes it (and chances are I've tried it).  During holiday seasons they have special themed goodies like bunnie petit-fors.  They even have cupcakes but I still give the FTW best cupcake award to the Cupcake Cottage.  Sorry, Blue Bonnet.

Blue Bonnet has a great small lunch menu.  They are great for light lunches with the girls or a chill afternoon sammie with the Hubby.  They mainly have soups, sandwiches, and salads but I think there might be a quiche or two on the menu as well.  I'm partial to the tortilla soup.

See this is why I exercise, so I can eat all these great sweets.  I'm pretty sure my body would appreciate less sugar (and less alcohol) but you only live once.  That means I'll have to get one of everything!
