Tequila and a BLT Salad

I had grand plans for Sunday evening and Monday morning blog updates.  But first there was this little birthday party to attend.  Just a few hours with friends, maybe a drink or two, then down to work.

It was sunny, there was wine and a hot tub; there was the BEST cedar plank grilled salmon; there was wine and pretty colored lights in the hot tub; there was cake.  Did I mention the wine?  Oh and apparently there were tequila shots.  Yeah.  And I don't shoot tequila.  Wait, maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

I read somewhere that Hemingway once said to write drunk and edit sober.  I have no idea how the hell he managed that because I couldn't even talk in complete sentences much less write in them.  Sunday night was a blur.  And Monday?  Well, Monday was a total waste.  Apparently wine and tequila are not good bed fellows.

So that brings us to Tuesday.  And at least one update.  On a damn fine salad.  My CSA is heavy on the greens right now and the Farmer's Market is just ramping up so the veggies are mighty tasty at the moment.   I decided I needed some bacon to help ease back into the non-hangover groove and since I wasn't coherent enough for bread making over the past few days, I had to settle for a BLT salad instead of a sammie.

Everything in the salad except the bacon was local.  I added Latte Da's Mango Tango goat cheese to create an amazing level of sophistication and taste.  The tang of the cheese, the salty bite of the bacon and the sweet juiciness of the tomatoes made this a perfect post party treat.
