Forbidden Love BH - Something different

If you read Reposted Poetry yesterday, you already know about the Forbidden Love blog hop.  If not here is a quick little summary:

Bullish Ink, Lillie McFerrin and Me & Mia are looking for 300 word Forbidden Love stories with a "star-crossed lover" sort of theme.

You can check out all the lovely entries here.

As for me, angsty love isn't the best thing to write at the moment so I took a different approach to the task. <Yes, I have an actual love story brewing but it's too wordy; whoodda thunk>

BBC America's Primeval

He loved it - the fear. Adrenaline pumping, heart racing, breath gulping fear. Most thought he loved the creatures.  And sure, they were wonderful; majestic in a deadly sort of way.  A true scientific wonder. The beasts made his analytical brain spin. But that wasn't the beauty, not for him.  These animals were dangerous in a way nothing else in his time could touch.  Sex, drugs, guns - nothing came close to the thrill.  Not even the touch of his girl got his heart pounding this hard. Like playing an HD video game, only better.  Games didn't leave saliva on his chest or hot breath full of rotted meat in his hair.  Joy sticks didn't bring blood or make him wonder if he'd get eaten alive.

This time he had to wonder. He had lost his footing and now inched back slowly. Should he run for it? Or play dead? Both options were chancy. The brownish-yellow teeth drew closer as he weighed the risks, sending his heart flying. His fear slicked hands lost their grip, sliding on the pavement as the mouth came down, opening wide to seal his fate.  This was it - the ultimate rush.  He was so alive, filled to the brim with emotion.  He rolled hard to the right, slamming  his face into the gravel. Away from the sharp end of the stick so to speak. MOVE!! his mind yelled - until the whoosh of the tranquilizer gun cut the silence.

He pushed up from the ground as the creature toppled.

"Bloody hell.  It took you long enough."  He grinned as his sweetheart shoulder the gun.

"Wot? You scared?" she teased.

"No! Well, maybe a little. So where's the next one?"

She pulled out the GPS to find the next big love of his life.

    1. Thanks! I was trying to hit the overwhelming emotion bit without the normal gooey love bit. I'm glad it came across. :)
